We are excited to offer this opportunity work with in our friendly and supportive teams at the Farnham Road Hospital, as a valued Staff Nurse. Farnham Road Hospital is a 60 bed Inpatient service, supporting the needs of working age adults.

We have various wards and our rehabilitation service looking for Staff Nurses with experience or newly qualified staff.

As Staff Nurse you will be given the opportunity to learn and grow into your role, if you are a experienced B5 Nurse looking to progress we have many opportunities to expand your knowledge and prepare for your career progression. You will be a source of mental health knowledge, have vision and resilience to support the ward and your colleagues in keeping the ward environment safe and productive.

Good communication skills are essential to deliver effective, high quality healthcare, ensuring the ward runs effectively, this will include aspects of people management, support staff development, clinical supervision, clinical effectiveness and CQC standards. The applicant must be compassionate towards both patients and staff and have an open and honest presence.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working with patients with acute and chronic mental health challenges, delivering comprehensive psychiatric assessment including risk assessment and risk management plans. There is a great emphasis on physical health care on the unit and staff receive regular training to ensure they are offering up to date interventions and feel confident to carry out care with the patients.

Attend MDT and develop safe timely discharge plans, explore barriers to discharge.

Medication management

Management of challenging situations on the ward

Evidence based care

Quality improvement projects to improve care

Liaison with family and carers

Clinical supervision

Mentoring junior staff and students

CQC preparation to ensure the wards are safe caring responsive effective and well led

The post holder will be a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning, treatment and support of people with serious and enduring mental health problems and people in crisis. They will particularly ensure access to and availability of mental health nursing skills to users of mental health services and their families.
