The Trust provides a large range and diversity of adult secure services in the East Midlands as well as secure services in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, Wathwood Hospital. The Division is in a unique position of providing its services across the full care pathway for several patient groups requiring forensic care. It is therefore part of two New Care Model programmes that aim to provide better support in the community and reduce reliance on secure beds to improve outcomes for service users and their families. Main duties of the job

The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provide physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.

We also offer services within the Personality Disorder Pathway, including Therapeutic Communities (within prisons), Community and Prison Personality Disorder services and specialist Veteran Services.

Working at HMP Lowdham Grange you will be part of a high motivated and skilled team who provide integrated healthcare (physical healthcare, mental health and ) to around 900 men.

The mental health team at HMP Lowdham Grange consists of Psychiatrists, Band 6 mental health nurses, IDD nurse, Psychologist, PWP, well-being co-ordinator, HCA, occupational therapist and assistant psychologists.

The role of the Senior Mental Health Nurse is to work within a stepped care pathway, conducting assessments, responding to crisis situations, conducting brief therapeutic interventions and /or case management for prisoners with a wide range of mental health issues, including common mental health problems, Psychotic disorders, Personality Disorder and Self-harm Behaviours and administering medications. As this is an Integrated Team supporting other pathways at times of need.

Applicants would also be participating in multi-disciplinary reviews, risk assessment. This is a unique opportunity to develop wide ranging knowledge and experience and develop professional autonomy.

Applicants would be expected to engage in individual and group supervision and reflective practice.

The post is based at HMP Lowdham Grange, the Trust provides healthcare in a number of prisons across the East Midlands and there will be opportunities for cross site working and peer support.

You must be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with proven post registration experience in delivery all a wide range of Mental Health care and have knowledge of CPA and Clinical Risk Assessment.
