We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated Counselling / Clinical / Forensic Psychologist to join our Complex Care Team.

You will be working alongside other psychological therapists in the team and will provide recovery focused, NICE compliant psychological interventions to working age adults.

You will work with different client groups and in different modalities, receiving supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist. There is a strong emphasis on team working and you will have the opportunity to supervise and provide consultation to MDT colleagues and other psychological professionals.

Main duties of the job

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will be providing psychological interventions individually and through groups to adults with complex needs, including developmental trauma, in a Secondary Care setting.

Our trauma pathways include Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You will have the opportunity to support the wider team through consultation to Community Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Support, Time and Recovery Workers.

The post would suit someone who enjoys being part of a team, is recovery focused and wishing to extend their knowledge and experience. There will be opportunities to help develop the existing DBT Service through the transformation of mental health services and also to develop EMDR competencies through Supervision with an EMDR Consultant.

The post will be based at Steps to Health and there is opportunity to do some remote working.

The Complex Care Service in Wolverhampton aims to improve mental health and wellbeing through the delivery of psychosocial therapeutic approaches, including recovery based and social interventions.

The Service provides a range of NICE compliant interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy.

Person Specification Essential Essential
  • oPost-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • oHCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist
  • oTrained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • oWorking as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • oExperience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
