Main duties of the job
You will work as a staff nurse on a forensic hospital ward,
providing quality mental health nursing care to female service users with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
You will work as part of multi-disciplinary team providing assessment, treatment and support including nursing and therapeutic interventions.
You will undertake the role of primary nurse and be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a designated group of service users.
You will understand and work within the framework of the Mental Health Act, and employ robust risk assessment and risk management skills.

experienced Nurses and will be paid £500 upon commencement with LYPFT, and then £500 per year following 12 months in post. Unfortunately, this bonus is not available to existing LYPFT staff.

Job description Job responsibilities
- To undertake the role of primary nurse for a designated group of service users, be responsible for the assessment of care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for that group of service users.
- To provide clinical leadership, supervising, supporting and appraising junior members of staff including healthcare support workers and students as required.
- To undertake the role of shift co-ordinator or security nurse within the unit as required. Ensuring the implementation of agreed care plans, high quality nursing care and evidence based practice within the clinical service area.
- To undertake the role of care co-ordinator to individual service user, providing, in conjunction with the MDT, specialist packages of care for service users with a history of offending behaviour linked to their mental disorder
- To facilitate comprehensive risk assessment and management plans using the HCR-20 and develop treatment and recovery plans for service users within a secure environment
- To maintain clear and accurate clinical/medication records whilst ensuring their practice complies with the Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, the NMC Professional Code of Conduct, and the policies and procedures of Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust (LYPFT)
- To demonstrate clinical leadership to all staff and will deputise to the charge nurse as required.
