Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and committed OT to our part-time rotation scheme which runs alongside our longer established full time rotation.The rotation scheme currently provides the opportunity to work in arange of settings within HPFT'sincluding in-patients, community teams and continuing health care. The OT service uses the Model Of Human Occupation across the Trust.Rotations are for a 12 month period to enable the development of a broad range of skills to support your career progression.High quality supervision, Preceptorship year and KSF processes are an integral part of the Rotation Scheme. CPD opportunities include a monthly Band 5 CPD Meeting with tutorials and access to OT in-service training events.NHS hospital accommodation may also be available for staff seeking to relocate to HertfordshireCar driver essential as a majority of the posts are community based, or access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).

Job Summary:

To provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions for the specified service user group, to carry a caseload as a member of the MDT and to develop the occupational therapy service provision within the setting.

Person Specification Qualifications/Training Essential
  • BSc/MSc/PG Dip Occupational Therapy
  • Professional registration as an Occupational Therapist with HCPC.
  • Membership of Professional Body e.g. BAOT
  • Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
Previous Experience Essential
  • Application of the OT process
  • Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
Communication Skills Essential
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good personal organisation skills.
  • Training and presentation skills.
Analytical Skills Essential
  • Some knowledge of current best practice in OT
  • Ability to work single-handed with individuals and groups
  • Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
  • Understanding of team dynamics
  • Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, including CPA and risk assessment and management
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of practice governance
Diversity Essential
  • Commitment to service user centred, non-discriminatory practice.
Physical skills Essential
  • Computer literacy including basic proficiency in using Word, Excel, e-learning packages, Electronic Patient records and Powerpoint.
  • Full driving license with access to car unless you have a disability as defined by the Equalities Act 2010.
  • Internet skills.
Physical Effort Essential
  • Regular car user possibly with considerable amounts of travel.
  • Working alongside service users to support them in undertaking everyday tasks and activities that they have identified in their recovery plan.
  • Required to complete a prevention and management of aggression training course, and annual refresher training
  • Frequent sitting at desk using computer.
