An amazing opportunity has arisen, whereby there are vacancies for a band 6 nurses on our newly purpose built, nurse led female psychiatric intensive care -PICU (Abbey Ward), which is the first in Hampshire, and is due to open soon
This service incorporates the following:-
- Saxon Ward - male acute,
- Hamtun Ward - male PICU
- Trinity Ward - female acute
- Also within the hospital, there is a 136 suite, ECT department, Crisis and home treatment team, and patient pathway team, where you will also get the opportunity to spend time, if you desire.
Abbey Ward is a 10 bedded female psychiatric unit, which serves the female population of Hampshire. It has adopted the just culture, whilst creating a safe therapeutic environment for learning / development. It will promote nurses to have a powerful voice within MDT, with a continuous drive for improvement by staff. There will be highly visible clinical presence, with support and leadership from a clinical nurse lead (Band 7) assigned to the ward, in addition to the band 6 occupational therapist (ward based).
Abbey Ward will facilitate a reflective culture to enable team to work in synergy and enhance decision making. A specialist development plan has been devised providing all staff with bespoke training, ensuring staff have the required skills and knowledge, to provide the highest standards of safe care. The wards ethos focuses on staffs’ wellbeing and professional development, this is to ensure ongoing professional development, whilst delivering the highest quality care.
To help our staff thrive in their roles we will offer regular, good quality supervision, appraisals, in-depth training and development opportunities. On the ward there will be regular complex case discussions which incorporates full MDT input and reflective practice, which will aide you in your professional development and support in decision making and formulating care-plans for complex needs. Additionally bitesize training sessions and team ' safety huddles' will be facilitated, all with the focus to develop and support our staff.

This post holder will be an expert practitioner, and a source of expert advice. Are you an experienced band 5, with sound clinical knowledge, and conducts themselves as a positive role model, who leads by example? Are you already practicing as a charge nurse who demonstrates personal integrity, with high clinical standards, and is looking to further develop professionally, or take on a new challenge.We are seeking keen and motivated professionals who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with a can do attitude.
