Working as part of the award winning CONNECT service the successful candidate will be passionate about supporting adults with eating disorders in the community as well as providing cover on the specialist inpatient ward. You will be responsible for supporting other professionals within the service with regards to nutrition and dietetic provision. You will offer one to one and group nutritional interventions to support patients in their recovery.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have access to supervision from experienced dietitians and work collaboratively with members of the MDT including occupational therapy, psychology, nursing and psychiatry. You will have the opportunity to access training and development in the latest evidence based practice including MANTRA. Attendance at local and regional eating disorder supervision groups is supported within this role.
There will be opportunities to deliver training to other members of the team and support others in delivering nutrition-based interventions
The successful candidate will join an innovative team of dietitians who have active involvement in contributing to local and national guidance. There are strong links with local universities and teaching hospitals which provide opportunities for training and development.
We are looking for a highly experience Dietitian who will lead on the delivery of dietetics within the service. You will be responsible for supervising Dietitians and supporting other professionals within the service with regards to dietetic provision. You will also represent dietetics within the local team Clinical Governance Council.
You will also have the opportunity to provide training, advice and support to Dietitians outside of the service in line with MEED guidelines within Acute Hospitals across West Yorkshire.
The post holder must hold a HCPC registration. The successful candidate will have experience of working with adults with an eating disorder.

The post holder will:
- Be able to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to patients, which will include giving unwelcome or difficult to accept information
- Must be able to communicate with groups and individuals who have a range of mental health conditions e.g. delivery of regular psycho education group
- To consult and to liaise as appropriate with other agencies regarding eating disorders
- To participate along with team members in maintaining robust and close links with other services to assist further developing the transition process for individuals e.g. CAMHS services.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with service users and their families in a manner sensitive to cultural and religious needs
- To participate in risk management of individuals with eating disorders
- Will require a range of skills including negotiation, influence, persuasion and diplomacy
- Work with patients and carers who may at times be antagonistic and hostile
- To occasionally treat service users who may have challenging or difficult behaviour.
- To negotiate change with groups or individuals or carers to enable them to achieve dietary/ treatment targets set using counselling, motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques
- Good written/oral skills
- To communicate complex information effectively using appropriate aids and skills with individuals that have complex and or special needs and where there may be cultural differences and /or a barrier to understanding

- Registered Dietitian, recognised by HCPC
- Formal behaviour change course and/or demonstrate an understanding of motivational interviewing/behavioral change approach

- Disorders, clinical experience/interest in working in a mental health setting
