Cygnet Hospital Taunton provides specialist inpatient services for older adults with mental health problems and for men diagnosed with a learning disability. The hospital also provides an acute inpatient admissions service for men over the age of 18.

Sycamore 1 & 2 Ward is our male acute service at Cygnet Hospital Taunton. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant the role involves planning and implementing activities as a therapeutic medium under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist who works full time and is based on Sycamore 1 & 2 Ward. You will also be supported by the wider Occupational Therapy Team based at Taunton including the Head of Occupational Therapy. The post holder will be offered support and guidance to utilise standardised assessments and implement structured groups.

In this role you will work within an MDT (which consists of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Social Work) to support recovery and rehabilitation for service users at Cygnet Hospital Taunton.

The hospital is situated in a rural setting amongst Taunton farmland, within acres of peaceful fields. This quiet and tranquil environment offers great benefit to our service users who are able to walk in the expansive hospital grounds and take in the countryside scenery. Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Preceptorship & Induction:

We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.

Requirements:
