We have an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health nurse who has a passion for working with service users with Forensic histories to work on a full-time permanent basis (Band 5, 1.0 wte) in the Community Forensic Psychiatry Service.

This post is also open to newly qualified nurses requiring a period of preceptorship.

This is a developmental post and will provide the opportunity for successful candidates to progress to Band 6 within this role upon completion of agreed competencies.

The Community Forensic Psychiatry Service consists of 2 multi-disciplinary teams based in Cambridge and Peterborough which between them cover the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.

The service works with adults with mental health disorders who present with a risk of significant harm to others, to achieve optimal management of risk, minimize re-offending and promote relapse prevention and recovery so enabling individuals to realise their full potential.

You will be joining an experienced team of professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, support workers, administrators) who all share a passion for delivering high quality care and treatment to service users with Forensic histories.

Main duties of the job

To provide nursing input to the 2 multi - disciplinary teams across the county (based in Peterborough and Cambridge).

To work closely with all members of the MDT teams, based in Peterborough and Cambridge.

You will act as a key professional in the assessments of individual care needs and will plan, implement and review care planning and risk management planning.

You will be able to communicate effectively with the wider MDT and raise concerns as required.

The service will run 7 days a week (8am till 8pm), excluding bank holidays, and will include shift work on a rotational basis.

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot usepublic transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. To work within the Community Forensic Psychiatry Service to provide specialist assessment, care planning and interventions, with support from senior members of the MDT.

To take a lead role in the care planning process, take on care co ordination responsibilities and work within the Care Programme Approach ensuring that Service and Trust policies are adhered to.

To develop practice within the teams in the assessment of health and well being needs.

Working closely with the Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists and other members of the 2 multi disciplinary teams, act as a central link in the ongoing management of complex cases for the team.

To provide written reports in respect of Mental Health Tribunals as required.

Take part in the evaluation of the care of individuals at review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc.

To attend and contribute to team meetings, providing specialist professional advice and support to staff regarding the management of individual service users and their programmes of care.

To liaise with community statutory and non- statutory community and inpatient services.

If required, to complete preceptorship training, supported by the clinical nurse specialist.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential

• oRegistered Nurse Mental Health (RNMH) or other specialism relating to post such as Registered Nurse Learning Disability (RNLD).
