You will be based across various locations on the Island, joining our small, supportive team, who work closely together! Main duties of the job

The role of this post holder is to provide speech and language therapy to adults with disorders of communication and swallowing. The post holder is responsible for assessing, diagnosing and managing patients referred with communication and/or swallowing disorders associated with acquired & progressive neurological disorders, trauma, Learning disabilities, and palliative care and stammering. Patients are seen in acute, rehabilitation and community settings; this includes the wards in Nobles Hospital, outpatient clinics in Nobles Hospital, Ramsey District Cottage Hospital, Nursing and Residential Homes and where necessary, domiciliary visits to private homes.

About the role and our team

We're looking for enthusiastic and supportive Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team within the Adult Speech and Language Service in the Isle of Man.

You will be based across various locations on the Island, joining our small, supportive team, who work closely together! Your work will help us achieve our vision which is:

This is a varied clinical role which involves working in an acute and outpatient settings. This will include domiciliary visits within care homes, hospice and within the service users own home.

You will be an autonomous practitioner responsible for the assessment, diagnosing and management of adult patients referred with communication and/or swallowing disorders associated with neurological disorders, trauma, voice disorders and stammering. You will also use evidence based/client centred principles to implement and evaluate Speech and Language intervention.

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language
  • Therapists
  • Comprehensive evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Post basic dysphagia certification (working towards this qualification will be considered)
