A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Adult Learning Disability Services respite services team based at Aysgarth as a Clinical Lead Nurse. The respite service unit provides short term care to individuals with profound and multiple learning disability and/or challenging behavior. We have 11 beds across two sites which support residents in Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar and Cleveland localities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a professional, confident Clinical lead who can inspire and co-ordinate the safe and effective running of a busy respite service.

We are looking for someone who is able to work closely with Local Authority, primary care and families and lead the team to ensure the successful delivery of high quality care to people with a learning disability.

The successful candidate will be involved; and expected to implement exciting changes in respite services, in collaboration with inpatient and community services to develop a comprehensive learning disability service.

The successful post holder will work in collaboration with TEWV day service and the local authority to ensure the delivering of robust evidence based practice promoting recovery and well-being and managing complex health needs. The clinical lead will work as part of multi-disciplinary team and in collaboration with other Learning Disability community and voluntary services.

The successful applicant would be responsible for supporting the Team Manager and senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.

You will also be responsible for the implementation of care pathways with the aim to deliver service models which are effective, responsive and supportive of the whole care pathway approach.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC
  • leadership qualification
Skills Essential
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Experience Essential
  • Significant experience working with people with mental ill health and/or learning disabilities in an inpatient or community environment.
  • PMLD experience
  • Mentoring students on practice placement experience.
  • Leadership or management experience
