The Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin IAPT services are busy caring teams consisting of Administration staff, PWPs, CBT Practitioners, and Counsellors. We serve the people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin which has exciting, diverse and growing modern towns, surrounded by the stunning Shropshire countryside. Served by train and public transport links, we are also within reach of the M6 motorway network and are central to access Birmingham, Chester, North Wales and Western Cheshire. The IAPT services sit within a wider and supportive care group and corporate structure.

Our Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) teams are great places to work. We are redefining the IAPT service offer and we need you to help us with this. We are surrounded by supportive leaders and managers. Staff are encouraged to contribute to the service vision and set the culture.

We have a vibrant continuing professional development programme and are committed to annual appraisals for all staff. We like to think of our appraisals as an annual conversation to support you to reach your potential.

Don’t take our word for it, new starters have all said what a great place this is to work and develop.

“I have worked for the NHS for 30 years and had been looking for a new NHS ‘home’ as well as a fresh challenge. At Midlands Partnership, I have found this. The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin care group is one of the friendliest and supportive places I have worked in the last 20 years. I am astounded by the can do attitude and the open door culture. I am enjoying getting up for work every day, as everyone wants the best outcome for patients”

We are currently recruiting for:

Role: 6 x Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists
Grading/salary: Band 6
12 month Fixed Term training contract
Hours: 37.5 per week
Base: Fuller House, Hall Court (Telford) or Severn Fields Health Village (Shrewsbury)

Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists are employed on a one year fixed term training contract that is high pressured, involving a clinical placement where you will manage a high volume caseload of high intensity service users alongside undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGDip CBT) where you will be required to meet frequent academic deadlines.

The training post includes two days per week at University/self-directed study and three days of supervised clinical practice. Trainees are expected to progress to working with a high degree of autonomy, with high volume caseloads; this may include video consultation and face-to-face clinical work. The role is well supported with weekly clinical and monthly management supervision from qualified clinicians. In addition to clinical contact, the role will include data collection, data management, analysis and note keeping.

Your base will be either at Fuller House, Hall Court (Telford) or Severn Fields Health Village (Shrewsbury), however you may also be required to work in a community location within the overall locality. You will also be required to travel to the University to attend lectures – please check directly with Staffordshire University which location you will need to travel to.

Applicants for this role must have applied for the PGDip Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Staffordshire University and must be successful at both interview with the Service and securing a place on the course to be offered the training role.
