The Mental Health Liaison Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn, Norfolk, operates a 24-hour, shift based service to a busy acute hospital serving parts of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. We are an integrated team managed by both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. As part of the wider Liaison service we also have representation from colleagues in youth, learning disabilities, and Mind. The assessment and care planning for patients presenting with a range of mental health conditions at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Main duties of the job

In the role you will be working alongside A&E colleagues and in-reaching into the acute wards. You would be gaining valuable knowledge of physical health care across all age groups, while assessing mental health needs, which at times can be quite challenging. We welcome opportunities for your career development and support identified training needs. The role involves liaising with a variety of health and social care services. You would be working with us as we pursue accreditation with the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (P.L.A.N.). Mental Health Liaison is a key part of the acute hospital team in contributing to a positive patient experience and quality care. Working within a 24/7 shift system you will be making clinical judgements from your assessment of people presenting with a broad range of mental health conditions and personal circumstances.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for registered nurses (RGN, RMN, RLDN) or Allied Health Professionals who have experience of acute mental health assessment and management, can work within a multi-disciplinary framework, and are enthusiastic to embrace positive changes to our service.

**This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3000 for external staff. Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people.
