Clinical Psychologist - London Vanguard Pilot Band 8a - 1.0 WTE Location - Camden
We are wanting to recruit an innovative and highly motivated 1.0 WTE Clinical Psychologist who has extensive experience of working with Children, Adolescents and/or Young Adults at risk of serious youth violence, from either a CAMHS or AMHS perspective. The successful candidate will be required to work in partnership with local authority, criminal justice, voluntary sector, community and mental health leads within Camden in delivering a high quality, responsive and innovative service. We anticipate that the postholder will be required to work closely with the leadership in Camden & Islington and BEH NHS Trust to ensure the fidelity of the London Vanguard model in both delivery and outcomes for the service.
You will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of and expertise in working with young people or Children & Adolescents involved within the criminal justice system/ affected by serious youth violence. You may come from a CAMHS or AMHS background, but will need to be a highly motivated, independent individual with excellent leadership skills and a proven record of delivering on innovative projects. This will include training and engagement with stakeholders on all levels.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Camden Vanguard project, ensuring that the clinical and strategic priorities are taken forward in an agreed and coherent way. The postholder will provide high level clinical leadership across the service, working closely with the team, families and multi-agency professionals to improve emotional and holistic well-being for young people in ensuring the delivery of highly innovative and adaptive evidence based psychological interventions for 10-25 year old's at risk of or affected by violence. The postholder will develop opportunities to offer consultation to non-psychologist colleagues, professionals and carers within the young people's network, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the pilot's policies and procedures. The postholder will be responsible for the development of opportunities to work alongside young people with lived experience to coproduce creative activities and social action projects. Embracing new ways of working will be key, as the model constantly evolves to respond to the needs and aspirations of young people it serves. The postholder will be required to utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research in order to evaluate the service and provide evidence for further service development.

Job description Job responsibilities MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical:
Consultation, Teaching, Training, and Supervision
- To provide clinical and professional leadership in the setting up and delivery of the Camden London Vanguard.
- To oversee and support the team to provide highly specialist psychological and psychometric assessment, formulation and intervention including risk assessment and the development of risk management plans to Camden London Vanguard service users in individual, group or family settings.
- To routinely utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice
- To ensure interventions are youth-led
- Where appropriate, to take responsibility for initiating, planning and review of care plans for Islington service users. This will involve offering staff from other agencies guidance on mental health
- To engage in clinical audit and maintain appropriate records of work
- To hold a direct specialist clinical caseload.
- To provide clinical supervision to clinical staff and where agreed locally, to provide clinical supervision to other multi-disciplinary team members for their provision of psychologically based interventions.
- To provide consultation and training to other professionals as required.
- To receive regular clinical supervision and line management from a senior Clinical Psychologist colleague in the Young Peoples Service (C&I NHS Tust).
- To provide supervision, advice, consultation and training to qualified and unqualified psychological therapies staff, students and trainees working within the Vanguard project.
- To contribute in an active way to the network of services for young offenders and to ensure the co-ordination of services provided. This will involve working closely with colleagues from other agencies
- To communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner.
- Communicate both verbally and in written format regarding complex and sensitive information, including sharing psychological knowledge with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communication with the MDT regarding clinical model, care and treatment planning.
- Communication regarding supervision and consultation with other staff.
- Communication with colleagues regarding the provision of psychological assessment and intervention.
- Communication regarding risk in high concern cases, in a way that ensures that a complex understanding of the risk of harm is understood and an appropriate action plan developed.
People (HR) Management
- To work directly, and support team members in working with young people to meet their well-being needs

- To oversee the team consisting of youth practitioners and a parent worker
- To delivering training, clinical supervision and line management to team members
