To contribute to the provision of a high-quality healthcare service for young people across two Secure Children's Homes (SCHs), within the Health and Justice Directorate. The role will be predominantly based at Marydale but there will be the occasion where cover will have to be provided at Barton Moss SCH in Salford.

Main duties of the job

As a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the post holder is responsible for completing an assessment using the Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). Following this assessment and whilst young people are resident you will have to manage a caseload of young people.

Ensuring a range of assessments and interventions are implemented and evaluated with the young person their families/carers and other members of the multiagency/disciplinary team, as appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to work very closely with the residential staff to help develop their skills and develop joint care plans to manage risks and meet the needs of the young people.

The post holder will provide assessment and therapy/treatment services for young people who experience problems with mental health associated with trauma due to significant care and life events. There will be intense liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies and services, including Social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, prisons and other services, as required.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical sessions to meet the needs of the young people.

The Post Holder will be part of the model of care being implemented into the Secure Childrens Hones which is formulation based care.

The post holder will pro-actively contribute to service and practice developments initiatives within the Network Business Plan which is a reflection of local and national developments.

  • Working within a CAMHS team

  • Evidence of post registration development
Desirable
  • Evidence of additional study after registration, eg Cognitive Behavioural Therapy qualification, Motivational Interviewing
Skills and Abilities Essential
  • Post holder able to provide packages of care to young people in liaison with the MDT.
  • The post holder must be able to engage with the young people to ensure effective monitoring of risk/mental health and recognise early warning signs of relapse.
  • Is able to work independently, monitoring own caseload.
Desirable
  • Has been involved in the development and implementation of change within a service.
Other Requirements Essential
  • The post holder will be required to travel between units so having the means and skills to do this is essential.
