Post 1 (Part time 2-3 days) Oaklands (Hexham; Northumberland): Oaklands is a 15 bed specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Hexham, Northumberland.

Post 2 (Part time 2-3 days) Hollyhurst (Darlington; County Durham) & Thornfield Grange (Bishop Auckland; County Durham): Thornfield Grange is a 9 bed specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Bishop Auckland; County Durham.

Hollyhurst is a 19 bed specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Darlington; County Durham.

Main duties of the job

For the role/s the post holder will have support from the Activity co-ordinator (1 Activity Coordinator per home) and will be provided with frequent clinical supervision. Although experience in sensory integration is desired, formal recognised training will be provided to support the skill development in this area.

Full MDT attached to the services. The team support individuals who have additional mental or physical health needs and behaviours that may challenge, as well as those who have significant difficulties with social engagement and inclusion. Our goal is to enable residents to structure their time, build relationships and establish a balance between therapy, self-care, work and leisure, as appropriate to their needs.

Summary of the sites

The post holder will work within our social care residential homes as below. The post is full time for all 3 homes or part time for Post 1 and Post 2 as identified below.   • Band 7 Occupational Therapist

  • Salary £41,000 £46,000 full time equivalent/pro rata

    2. Band 6 Occupational Therapist

    Salary £33,000 £39,000 full time equivalent/pro rata

    Occupational Therapy Directorate

    Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

    Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

    We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
