Clinical service lead- Southwark CAMHS child and family team

We are looking for a team leader/highly specialist clinician with excellent clinical skills and an ability to engage young people with mental health difficulties. Applicants will need to have experience of working with service users with mental health difficulties, leadership skills which will support the operational management of the child and family service, and a style of working which supports all team members to give of their best and achieve the best possible outcomes for young people and their carers.

The Clinical Service Lead provides management and supervisory leadership to the Southwark CAMHS Child and Family (C&F) service. Southwark C&F service offers specialist assessment and treatment to children and young people, up to 12 years old, who have complex mental health problems. C&F service also includes the Hope Project; a mini-team for children and young people, up to 18 years old, who have been affected by trauma.

C&F service is multi-disciplinary with psychiatry, nursing, psychology and therapy professionals. The post-holder will work with the senior team to develop the service and ensure timely, high quality- triage, assessment, intervention and discharge planning of YP referred to the service. The post-holder is an important member of the Southwark CAMHS local leadership and will have the opportunity to influence strategy with leads from other teams and disciplines.

Main duties of the job

To take day to day operational management responsibility in the planning, directing and management of the Southwark CAMHS- child and family service.

The post holder will ensure that service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence based, needs led, as well as service user and carer focused.

The post holder will provide clear leadership, in partnership with the Service Manager to ensure access to timely treatment and intervention by well led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety and achievement for all children and young people.

Team work with children, young people and their families to help them gain a better understanding of their issues, and the type of intervention that may help before agreeing a care plan. At times, team may need to work with other agencies if the difficulties faced by a family are quite complex. Team will usually work with the referrer, and other agencies to work out how CAMHS can help.

  • oSenior Management experience in running large multidisciplinary teams with significant clinical and business delivery targets.
