Wandsworth Assoc Clinical Director/Consultant Psychiatrist (Joint Role) 12PAS

We're looking for two ambitious leaders to help us deliver the future of mental health care to patients across our communities. As an Associate Clinical Director you'll build on your General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist experience, taking on new medical leadership responsibilities.

The ACD role is for 2pas plus 10% responsibility allowance (on 10pas) plus 10pas of a Consultant 3 years fixed term period.

Main duties of the job

  • The Associate Clinical Director in conjunction with the Clinical Director, Head of Nursing and Quality, Head of Psychology & Psychotherapy and Head of Service Delivery, will establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders including GP commissioners, the Integrated Care System and local Authorities. This will include Health Overview, Health and Wellbeing and Safeguarding Boards
  • To provide clinical leadership and expertise to Trust wide service developments and redesign.
  • To work with the Clinical Director, Head of Nursing and Quality, Head of Psychology & Psychotherapy and Head of Service Delivery to provide effective clinical leadership to the directorate and help ensure the development of high quality clinical services which are evidence based, consistent with legal requirements, and in keeping with national policy and the Trust's Corporate Objectives.
  • To work with the Medical Director, Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director to ensure the requirements of Revalidation and appraisal for doctors are fulfilled within the directorate
  • Support the development and delivery of medical workforce strategies and innovations for the Service Line, and the effective recruitment and retention of medical staff.
  • To contribute to clinical governance Trust wide including participating in serious incident investigations and complaint investigation.

  • To be a clinical leader for the service line
  • To support the development of place-based working / provider collaborative delivery (as appropriate to the Service Line) as part of the senior leadership of the Trusts strategy.
  • To support the Clinical Director and Service line senior leadership team to develop relationships, services and clinical pathways that aim to make mental health integral within the Integrated Care System
  • To lead on the development and design of innovative services within the clinical area.
  • Ensure effective pathway interfaces with other mental health services provided by SWLSTG and primary care, and that the transitions between different clinical components are well designed and delivered.
  • Provide medical leadership around job planning and medical productivity in their area
  • In conjunction with the Clinical Director, Head of Nursing and Quality, Head of Psychology & Psychotherapy and Head of Service Delivery, lead on Quality Improvement and Innovation in their area.
  • Promote and deliver clinical and research governance in the Service Line.
  • Support the Service Line senior leadership team to deliver the relevant elements of the Trusts Integrated Transformation Programme

Person Specification Experience Essential
  • Leadership experience within a complex organisation delivering clinical/social care services.
  • Experience of delivering improvements in quality
  • Experience in leading governance and quality projects.
  • Aspiration to participate in a Leadership development programme
  • Participation in and understanding of complex organisational
  • Experience of multi professional collaboration at a senior level.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other organisations.
Training and Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Medical Practitioner (with CCT in a branch of Psychiatry)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Management qualifications
  • Leadership training (e.g. collaborative leadership)
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience
