The CAMHS Crisis Team support CYP presenting in crisis and requiring emergency mental health support whilst in the acute trusts setting, such as A&E and inpatient wards.
This role is an integrated role
between Child and Adolescent Mental Health Crisis Services and the Acute Trust Sites Princess Royal University, (Kings College London NHS Trust), Bromley and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, Greenwich). Whilst the post holders base will be Highpoint House, Greenwich; there will be an expectation that much of the day-to-day activity will involve being present in the acute trust sites (A&E and wards) working collaboratively with colleagues across the agencies.
Main duties of the job
As a highly specialised nurse practitioner, the post holder will lead on the improvement of quality of care and experience of children and young people when they present to the acute trust sites in a mental health crisis. This will be achieved through the development, provision, and delivery of structured programmes within both the acute trust and CAMHS workforce. This programme will include, but is not limited to:
- navigation of learning and resources already available supporting early intervention to avoid crisis in CYP through liaison work with physical health colleagues
- individual mentoring

The successful post holder will provide support through direct clinical work (which models the frameworks of assessment/intervention/care shared through the above) in complex presentations, for example where without support security and restraint.
To lead on the implementation and maintenance of evidenced based interventions within the patients pathway across acute trust sites and CAMHS Crisis.
To work collaboratively with colleagues across the SLP in similar roles to support the development of a Crisis Teaching pathway.
To build relationships with key colleagues across acute trust sites, local authorities and CAMHS which supports the timely mobilisation of community care plans which enable swift discharge from acute trust sites
To be able to work across agencies in a fluid and collaborative manner, ensuring the patients needs remain central to all interactions and activity.
Person Specification Education/Knowledge Essential
- oNMC registration oExcellent working knowledge of mental health presentations in children oPostgraduate qualification at Masters Level (level 7 (postgraduate diploma or master's degree)) or equivalent experience. oEvidence of continuous professional development oEvidence of experience in therapeutic interventions relevant to specialty, i.e. nurse Prescribing, CBT, DBT, PSI, EFT, NLP and Family Interventions, Group work oKnowledge of a range of NHS, other statutory agencies and voluntary sector providers oDemonstrable use of evidenced based research in clinical work
