Band 6 Registered Practitioner, Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, Learning Disability Hampshire, and Southampton Intensive Support Team.

Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Speech & Language Therapist looking to join a supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) with a view to maximising potential and improving quality of life?

The Hampshire and Southampton Intensive Support Team (IST) works alongside the Community Learning Disability Teams in helping to devise the best support for adults whose behaviour challenges services.

We are looking to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist to be part of an MDT that includes Psychology, Nursing, Behaviour Specialist and Occupational Therapy. The IST is part of a national IST Network. This team is a relatively small team with a reduced case load, allowing focused team working to support services and families to be able to meet complex needs more effectively within a Positive Behaviour Support framework. The role includes some leadership and supervision of unregistered staff as well as an expectation to participate in the ongoing development of the team.

Why join us?

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to join a friendly and supportive team that make a difference to people’s lives. There are opportunities for you to develop skills in functional assessment and expand your knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support. As well as having an opportunity to utilise your profession specific skills, the IST offers the chance for true interdisciplinary working with shared goals and a passion for real change for the people we work with.

What IST can offer you
  • Team induction / shadowing of other professionals
  • Support from weekly formal MDT meetings and Clinical Discussions
  • Peer supervision and CPD opportunities from the wider centralised SLT team
  • Opportunities to support Students on placement alongside other therapists in the team
  • Clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal
  • Team reflective practice
  • Monthly team CPD
  • Access to Trust wide Learning and Development Courses
  • Flexible working options
