This role will be supported by a £12,000 relocation allowance

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join NSFT working in West Norfolk supporting both the Early Intervention and Youth teams.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team works with young people from the age of 14 presenting with symptoms suggestive of psychosis and provides assessment and treatment in line with the EIP standards set nationally. The Youth team works with young people aged between 14- and 25-years old presenting with significant mental health issues. This post supports both teams and so allows for greater collaboration across for those young people presenting with mixed symptoms and potential at risk mental states.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide Consultant level support to both the EIP and Youth teams in terms of being part of the MDT discussions and interventions offered to those accessing the services.

The role also entails a high level of clinical leadership in terms of both supporting service developments as well as maintaining good clinical governance and assurance that the services are safe and effective.

About us

NSFT is committed to promoting clinical leadership at all levels and there are lots of opportunities to get involved in this as a Consultant joining the organisation.

Norfolk's CFYP services are very involved in working with the wider system to develop mental health services in Norfolk as part of the local transformation plan. We have a very active research team and Consultants can get involved with this if they would like as well as joining the team teaching at the UEA medical school in a variety of roles.

Diane Hull - NSNHSFT

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'. There are also Care Groups supporting children, family and young people’s services, and specialist services, including Forensic mental health services.

Each Care Group has its own Leadership team, with the aim of supporting clinically led decision making locally, to support the needs of people accessing services.

We have inpatient facilities across both counties with smaller bases in rural locations. Many of the Trust’s services are offered in the community, enabling people accessing services to receive the support they need in an environment familiar to them.

At NSFT we believe in recovery and wellbeing, and understand the importance of good physical health, maintaining relationships and achieving a balance between treatments and continuing an active life.

The people in our care, families and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do and are vital in helping shape and support our service strategy. Our strategy supports and enables people with mental health problems to live a fulfilling life and make their personal recovery journey.

Norfolk and Suffolk, in the East of England are some of the safest places to live in the UK, with low crime rates making it a community to be proud of. Housing prices are frequently cited as a reason to move here, as you get an incredible amount for your money compared with other major UK cities.
