Staff Nurse in Dementia Care (RMN - Mental Health or RNLD)

Due to an increase in our staffing establishment we currently have a vacancy on Belvedere Ward at Franklyn Hospital in Exeter for a Staff Nurse working 37.5 hours per week which includes night and weekend working. (Part time also considered)

Belvedere Ward is a 14 bed Dementia Assessment Unit, the role is fast paced and fulfilling but can also be challenging and unpredictable at times.

We would welcome applicants with previous dementia experience or applicants with an interest in healthcare for older people / dementia.

This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis. You will qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to your basic pay. The role is currently at Band 5, but there is potential for the opportunity of a promotion to Band 6 in the future.

We encourage you to learn, develop and grow. For newly qualified staff we have a well-established preceptorship programme which links into our wider multidisciplinary CPD programme. Those looking to gain further experience will be supported in maintaining professional links, through involvement in regular profession-specific CPD opportunities.
About you

You will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to working flexibly and be happy to participate in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services.

We expect you to be able to demonstrate how you have worked effectively in a multi-disciplinary team setting. You will need to demonstrate your commitment to personal development and how you have supported a team to succeed.

We welcome independent and critical thinkers. You will be encouraged and supported to use quality improvement methodology to help improve the services we offer. The Trust’s Quality Improvement Academy is on hand to provide access to expert advice and support in your work area that will help you to improve the work you do every day.

Location
Belvedere Ward is where we provide assessment, care and treatment for patients with an Organic Mental Illness (Dementia), based at Franklyn Hospital, Exeter.

Our team at Belvedere includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, Ward Manager, Registered Mental Health and Registered General Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Junior Doctors, Discharge Facilitator, Medical Secretaries, an Admin Team, Peer Support Workers, a House Keeping Team, and a Team of enthusiastic Volunteers. We have a strong work ethic and pride ourselves on delivering person-centred care. We treat everyone – staff, stakeholders, colleagues and the people we care for and their families – with respect and dignity.
