We are excited to be recruiting to a Band 8A Clinical Psychology post in the Lincolnshire Children & Young People’s Complex Needs Service.

Lincolnshire’s mental health trust (Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) and Lincolnshire County Council’s Future4Me service have successfully developed a clinical psychology-led consultation, training, assessment and intervention model of working to enable Local Authority staff working with young people with the most complex needs (eg young offenders, Children in Care), to access timely clinical psychology consultation and formulation.
The psychology consultations and formulations aim to help staff consider the possible impact of developmental trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) on a young person’s emotional and/or behavioural presentation, and help staff tailor their interventions accordingly and /or identify if any additional service / professional needs to become involved.

This model of working is proving to work well for staff and for service users and their carers (who include foster carers; Childrens Home staff) and NHS England has recently awarded Lincolnshire Health and Justice monies to develop this team into an expanded CYP Complex Needs Service.

We are ideally looking for a qualified and experienced clinical psychologist who already has experience of working with Young Offenders and Children in Care and who is keen to get involved with our developing service to help with the provision of a comprehensive training package to Lincolnshire professionals who work with CYP. We are looking for someone who is familiar with and able to offer formulation and consultation to a range of professionals and agencies. The successful applicant will also have experience of providing clinical psychology assessments and interventions to CYP and their families and carers, including foster carers and Childrens Home staff.

We would be happy to consider enquiries and applications from newly qualified clinical psychologists, (or psychologists due to complete their clinical psychology training), and for these applicants you would be applying for a “development / preceptorship post” where a successful, newly qualified applicant would be offered the post as a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist with clear guidance and support given on competencies that would need to be achieved to move to the 8a role over time.
For informal enquiries about this post please contact Dr Nicola Silvester, Clinical & Strategic Lead, at nicola.silvester@lincolnshire.gov.uk or Rachel Smith, Team Coordinator, at rachelx.smith@lincolnshire.gov.uk.
The post is county wide, permanent and full time and the ability to travel across the county is essential. Whilst no guarantee can be given about the minimum amount of travel necessary in this post, we do work together as a team to try to reduce the need to travel either to a limited number of days per week, or across a smaller geographical patch.

There will be an expectation for face to face work with young people and their carers and families where this is indicated. Your work base will be Sleaford Area Office, Eastgate, Sleaford. Some of the current work duties may be possible to complete from home using video and internet functions.

Supervision is offered to all LPFT employed staff and CPD is actively encouraged. LPFT CYP Services have a robust Training Plan in place to ensure all staff are able to provide evidence based assessments and interventions.

The Complex Needs Service has close connections with all LPFT and LCC’s CYP Services, and the psychologists will be part of a county wide Child Psychological Therapies provision which includes psychology services to Core CAMHS; CAMHS Eating Disorder Service; CAMHS Learning Disabilities Service; Lincolnshire Secure Unit; Paediatric Psychology – Diabetes; Psychology Team – Social Communication.

All qualified clinical psychologists are expected to provide regular placements to trainee clinical psychologists and we are closely linked to the mid Trent Clinical Psychology Doctorate course.
