Main duties of the job

Richmond Wellbeing Service (RWS) is looking to recruit one full time permanent and one part time fixed term enthusiastic and motivated High Intensity CBT Therapist or clinical/counselling psychologist to join our dynamic and innovative service on a permanent contract.

RWS is based in Twickenham, in the borough of Richmond. We are one of the top-rated Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in London, offering stepped-care, evidence-based interventions at steps 2 and 3

Job description Job responsibilities

This post involves:

  • Delivery of high quality, Step 3 CBT (face to face/online group/individual) interventions for clients presenting with mild to moderate anxiety disorders and depression-related problems
  • Carrying out telephone, virtual online and face-to-face assessments
  • Working with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters where necessary


We recognise the need for clinicians to feel well supported in their role and clinical development. The post holder will be part of a supportive team, with access to peer support, high quality supervision and CPD opportunities.

There is a blend of working from home and working throughout the borough of Richmond Upon Thames flexed to service need, with the expectation that clinical staff work one late evening per week (12 noon until 8pm).

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • HCPC registered Counselling or Clinical Psychologist and provisionally or fully accredited with the BABCP (Band 7), or able to apply for provisional accreditation within 12 months of interview date (Band 6). OR ? A recorded/registered post-graduate qualification (or due to complete one in the next 6 months) in one of the following at Diploma level, or above: -CBT, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and provisionally or fully accredited with the BABCP (Band 7) or able to apply for provisional accreditation within 12 months of interview date (Band 6
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working as a CBT therapist (or trainee CBT therapist) seeing individual patients
  • Experience of working in mental health services
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
