This is an exciting new role with an opportunity to work across Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) and Residential Rehabilitation services.

The EIP team provides a community based service for people from 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The residential rehabilitation part of the role involves providing direct and indirect intervention for a small group of adults, working with a recovery focus.

The psychological therapists in the teams work autonomously within professional guidelines to provide a high quality specialist psychology service to service users, their families, and other professionals/services involved in the life and care of service users. To ensure that effective, tailored, evidence based psychological assessments and interventions are delivered to service users and their families. To deliver interventions underpinned by evidence based practice, NICE guidance, and DH guidance.

To be responsible for robust assessment and formulation of a service user's psychological needs. To offer highly skilled care-planning in response to the formulation and communicate this accordingly to those involved in the care of the service user.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist psychological assessments of service users, utilising information from primary and secondary health care contacts as well as direct contact with the service user
  • Where indicated to utilise complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care. The post-holder will also be responsible for the safe use of any equipment used during assessments (e.g. test batteries).
  • To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range settings.
