Are you a driven and dynamic nurse, wanting to make a difference to someone’s life, and ready for a new challenge?

An amazing opportunity has arisen, whereby there are vacancies for a band 5 nurse on our newly purpose built, therapeutic, nurse-led female psychiatric intensive care -PICU (Abbey Ward).

Whether you are an experienced nurse, wanting to return to practice, or newly qualified this is a great opportunity to get your career on track and be part of a new and exciting service here at Abbey Ward in Antelope House.

A specialist development plan has been devised providing all staff with bespoke training, ensuring staff have the required skills and knowledge, to provide the highest standards of safe care. The wards ethos focuses on staffs’ wellbeing and professional development, to which all band 5s will be supervised by either an experienced band 6 or a band 7 nurse, this is to ensure ongoing professional development, whilst delivering the highest quality care.

Abbey ward is going to be the first female PICU service in Hampshire, and located in Antelope House, we will be implementing new ways of working to improve patient care and experiences, as well as supporting staff in the process of alleviating potential pressures and improve working. These include, weekly carers clinic, which will be facilitated by senior nurses, weekly complex case discussion which will incorporate full MDT with reflective practice, which will aid you in your professional development and your clinical decision making.

As a newly qualified nurse you will undertake your preceptorship program for the first 6 months, where you will be supported/supervised by experienced and knowledgeable band 6/7s. Throughout your preceptorship you will have mandatory training, monthly preceptorship days, support in house from practice development team and monthly supervision. Once you have finished your preceptorship you will have many opportunities to continue to develop your professional practice, including undertaking mentorship training, CPD funding which will enable further education within university, depending on your individual career preference.

As an experienced band 5, Abbey ward will facilitate progression pathways to band 6 dependent of you preferred pathway. Abbey ward offers both clinical and managerial band 6 opportunities, which will be tailored and worked towards through monthly supervision and appraisal.

If you share our ambition to deliver high quality / standards of care. In addition to holding our trust values which incorporate working with trust and respect, working in partnership, by placing patients at the heart of all we do, then we would love to talk to you

Antelope House is based in the heart of Southampton with excellent transport links and close to the city centre, shops and parks. Excellent location, and great for further commutes such as London.
