We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a qualified Sonographer to join our friendly, passionate and supportive team at the West Suffolk Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT).

We are looking to expand our team to support the opening of our new CDC at Newmarket Community Hospital at the end of 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to work across a range of WSFT sites, including Newmarket, Thetford, Botesdale and Sudbury on a rotational basis (exact locations can be negotiated depending on geography and travel ability).

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, diligent, and committed to providing an excellent service to our patients. You will be required toobtain high quality ultrasound images and diagnostic reports within the hospital and community settings.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for:

Autonomously producing high-quality ultrasound images and diagnostic reports

Maintaining high standards within the ultrasound team

Training and supervising others, including supporting new staff in induction

Teaching and promoting awareness and compliance with policies and protocols

Participating in and supporting the governance programme, setting up ultrasound audits where necessary

Participating in the ultrasound QA programme.

Working with other senior staff to ensure essential departmental administration and organisation is undertaken

The care of the patient for the duration of their time in ultrasound, maintaining dignity, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs

Ensuring all personal mandatory training is kept up to date

Carrying out tasks delegated by the Service Manager

This is an exciting time to join WSFT, with staff participating in the planning of our new hospital (Future Systems Program). We are also working closely with other hospitals within our Integrated Care System and the Eastern Diagnostic Imaging Network (EDIN).

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • oQualified Healthcare Professional, registered with a recognised governing body
  • oRecognised post graduate qualification in medical or clinical ultrasound (or equivalent)
  • oComprehensive, up to date CPD portfolio related to advances in US imaging and management activities


Desirable

  • oAdditional training/ qualification in a specific area of US scanning
  • oProfessional registration with a recognised governing body
  • oAble to complete diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound guided injections.


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • oDemonstrable clinical and leadership experience
  • oUnderstanding of the current challenges MSK US scanning
  • oExperience working in a hospital environment that supports a wide range of complex clinical examinations
  • oInterest and experience in MSK ultrasound procedures


Desirable

  • oKnowledge of the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) process
