To lead on the activity element in the Specialist Adult Weight Management Service a pan BCUHB service.
Support and provide the activity component of the All Wales Weight Management Pathway -2021 outlined for Level 3 services and meeting the service needs identified in the BCUHB service insight report
Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the management of patients living with obesity some of whom have highly complex physical and psychological problems, that promotes independence, increased confidence and improved quality of life for patient and family where necessary
Main duties of the job
Assess the clinical suitability of patients attending for exercise and prescribe exercise to patients with wide ranging pathophysiology and co-morbidity.
To lead and implement individualised activity sessions in line with current guidelines within a variety of settings if possible and deliver remote options for support with activity.
Deliver interventions to groups of people as well as individuals. To ensure the smooth organisation of group sessions, clinics, home visits and other patient (and significant other) contact, taking into account content, group numbers and evaluation of intervention using standardised outcome measures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential
- Degree in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience: oUnderstanding of the physiological and psychological aspects of physical activity to improve health and wellbeing oKnowledge of how to support people with a range of comorbidities to safely and sustainably increase physical activity. oKnowledge and experience in providing a range of physical activity offers.
- Registered with HCPC, or registered as a BASES certified Exercise Practitioner,or CIMPSA/REPS recognised Level 3 Exercise Referral Qualification and up to date BACPR Exercise Instructor Training, or Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Good knowledge of existing exercise testing and prescription guidelines
- Knowledge of cardiac conditions and treatment and how this may affect exercise capacity/ability
Desirable
- Evidence of relevant post graduate study
- Level 4 Certificate in Weight Management for Individuals with Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus and/or Metabolic Syndrome Knowledge of other co-morbidities and how they may effect the person's ability to exercise or keep active

- Experience of conducting one-to -one consultations
- Experience of planning exercise programmes and evaluating outcome
- Experience of delivering exercise / physical activity advice to a clinical population
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio and related specialist experience

- Ability to assess clinical information and structure patient care accordingly
- Skilled in delivering educational talks and lead group exercise sessions
