An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician's to join our excellent Pharmacy Team on the Hammersmith hospital site, which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

You will be part of the busy Pharmacy Dispensary and Distribution Team, providing a high quality, patient focused dispensing and stock management service to the wards and clinics on the Hammersmith site.

You will need good computer skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and so excellent communication skills are essential. You must have a NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and have mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high quality, patient focused dispensing service to the wards and departments of the Trust, associated hospitals and the primary care sector.
  • To ensure the timely supply of inpatient, discharge and clinic medication from the inpatient dispensary.
  • To monitor stock levels and maintain good stock management, including investigating and rectifying stock discrepancies.
  • To ensure that all staff working in the dispensary are appropriately trained.
  • To ensure all staff have an understanding of the stores and distribution services to enable them to provide a weekend and out of hours service.

Person Specification

Education/ qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 (or recognised equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Services (or similar)
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Hold an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification (or be willing to work towards completion within 18 months of recruitment)


Desirable

  • A1/NVQ/AVA Assessor (or equivalent)


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience working in a UK hospital pharmacy setting
  • Experience working in Hospital Pharmacy setting


Desirable

  • Ward stock top up experience
  • Experience in implementing and managing change


Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential

  • Understanding of the roles and practice of pharmacy staff
  • To adapt, support and implement changes to operations
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Office programs
  • An understanding of the importance of good stock management


Desirable

  • Experience in using CMM (previously JAC) pharmacy computer system
