The post holder will be a highly motivated and experienced midwife who will enhance a patient experience service that involves listening to women and pregnant people's experience of care via the birth reflections service, feedback from Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership, the Picker survey and Friends and Family Test. The post holder will share this feedback across the organisation and use the feedback to co-develop services to deliver an improved patient experience.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will co-ordinate aspects of quality and safety in line with the maternity Clinical Governance strategy and the overarching Trust's Clinical Governance framework. This will include supporting patient experience and staff experience.

The post holder will implement a consistent approach to the management of concerns raised by patients and their families, and patient feedback, to preserve quality whilst meeting the trust deadlines. They will consider innovative ways to capture patient experience of treatment and care, analyse and prepare the data, and present feedback to local and divisional governance meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Requires NMC registration on relevant part of register.
  • Professional knowledge acquired through Midwifery training to Degree Level or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Practise assessor & Practise supervisor training or equivalent teaching experience.


Desirable

  • Experience of clinical audit and presentation.
  • RCA Training.
  • Leadership/Management qualification.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Significant recent clinical experience as a practising midwife in an acute hospital.
  • Experience of dealing with patient concerns.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance as a theory and in practice.
  • Knowledge of Datix System.
  • Experience in people management and improving the patient experience.
  • Mentoring experience.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Experience of report writing


Desirable

  • Experience in co-ordination, chairing and administration of meetings.
  • Experience of stakeholder and partnership working.


Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of experience of conflict resolution.
  • Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
