Specialist Rotational Clinical Pharmacist - Band 7 - 37.5 hours - Permanent

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly team of Clinical Rotational Pharmacists. With a new Chief Pharmacist, an ambitious 2 year departmental strategy and the pharmacy robot being replaced in 2025 we are in the prime position to support you to become an outstanding clinical pharmacist and help you fulfil your full potential.

Our team of Clinical Rotational Pharmacists participate in 6 month rotations working across all divisions within the trust giving the post holder the opportunity to experience a breadth of clinical pharmacy practice and professional development. Rotations include Aseptics, Anticoagulation Clinics, Intermediate Care Services, Medicines Information, Clinical Trials, Medical Admissions, General Medicine, Paediatrics and Surgery and Orthopaedics

We will fully fund and support you to undertake relevant post graduate training including the independent prescribing qualification and leadership training.

Participation in the extended hours, weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call service will be required

Main duties of the job

  • To provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to ward(s) within specialist area.
  • To deliver designated performance objectives specific to the allocated rotation area(s).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy ( 4 years) or recognised equivalent
  • Pre-registration training and experience
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Completed or undertaking a post-graduate diploma / MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Independent Non-medical Prescribing Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • 12 months Post registration experience of working in a busy Hospital (or equivalent documented clinical experience)


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Good working knowledge of therapeutics of common disease states and frequently used therapeutic regimes
  • Good all round practical clinical pharmacy and medicines management skill
  • Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and in writing with patients and service users
  • Professional attitude
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a large team
  • Able to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Clear understanding of the legal and professional requirements of a Pharmacist
  • Able to meet the demands of a busy department and specifically to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Understands the issues affecting the NHS and the pharmaceutical service
