An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Registered Nurse on Internal Rotation, within the Eye Department with the Surgical Directorate.

Main duties of the job

The position involves working ofEye Department (Internal rotation - Clinic / Day Unit / Theatre) The successful candidate will join Senior members of nursing staff within the eye service coordinating care for the elective Ophthalmology patients / AMD service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

All applicants must be a Registered Nurse and must have concurrent validation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Surgical experience within the Eye Department at Band 5 level is necessary, training and mentorship in Surgical Nursing will be provided. Experience in Acute adult surgical nursing (Ophthalmology).

Essential

• NMC Registered Nurse
• Teaching & Assessing or 998 course
• Diploma in Nursing / Willingness to undertake.

Desirable

• Degree in relevant clinical/professional subject
• Management Qualification or willingness to undertake
• Alert, RaAts, APLS, PLS
• Advanced Life Support

Experience

Essential

• A number of years post registration experience at Grade 5/ Ophthalmology qualification.
• Eye Theatre experience
• Experience within an appropriate clinical area

Desirable

• Experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting
