Senior Infection Prevention and Control PractitionerBand 7 Substantive Full time (37.5 hrs. per week)An excellent opportunity to work in a welcoming team with experienced leaders in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). Our team are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Infection Prevention and Control clinical specialist nurse with the ability to influence and promote best IPC practice across Barts Health Trust NHS. The IPC CNS will work with Barts Health Trust NHS staff to improve the practice and reduce hospital acquired infections. The post holder will provide leadership, mentorship and management to junior staff as well as peer support to the other Band 7 IPC CNS within the team.The post requires working together with other stakeholders across the Trust to follow our Trust values and to ensure the IPC policy and guidelines are implemented into the Trust practice.Our IPC service includes the management of isolation prioritisation to aid patients' safety, training and education and working together with other leaders across the organisation.

The post holder will be expected to spend at least 70% of time within the clinical area providing training and support, education and advice to the clinical staff and 30% on project works (such as Quality improvement projects).

The post holder must have excellent communication skills, previous experience as IPC practitioner essential, be flexible and work well within a diverse team.

Main duties of the job

The ability to manage own workload is crucial for the post as well as the ability to engage with others.

The successful candidate must have high interest to improve the practice, good computer and organisational skills, to work as an independent practitioner as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Please, note the post holder will be expected to work 37.5 hours.

Provide specialist Infection prevention and control advice and support to staff and teams working in acute services to ensure adherence to good practice in infection prevention and control.

Provide and support visible and proactive approach to prevent infections. This include post infections reviews, implementing and educating the staff following evidence-based infection, prevention and control practices in line with the National and Trust policies and guidelines.

Contribute to the development and implementation of measures to reduces the incidence of infections

Working together with other stakeholders to implement, monitor and measure ICP compliance

Working together with other stakeholders to ensure the environment is cleaned and free of dust via Tendable audits

Working together with other stakeholders to support the organisation's IPC objectives

Leading the clinical audits process including summarising the learning outcomes
