The Informatics Team in the Genomics Medicine Service has an opportunity for a Test Analyst to join a growing, dynamic and busy team.
As a Test Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our software products through thorough testing. The ideal candidate will have experience in software testing, a strong understanding of testing methodologies, and excellent problem-solving skills.
We have a wide range of projects currently coming to the testing phase including our new regional LIMS, a data warehouse and reporting portal, which are all significant and have a high impact.
You will have experience of software testing and be familiar with function, regression and user acceptance testing, and ideally will have supported non test background colleagues through the process previously. You will have experience of test automation and understand how the testing process fits with the software development life cycle. You will have experience of working in Prince 2 managed projects. Good attention to detail and good communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work autonomously.

Main duties of the job
- Review documented processes to develop test scenarios, cases and plans
- Execute functional and regression tests
- Identify defects and issues and report them in a timely manner
- Work closely with internal and external developers to resolve issues and defects
- Continuously improving testing processes and methodologies
- Mentor and support clinical colleagues in test planning, creation and execution

Job responsibilities
- This post will require the post holder to work in the Test team under the direction of the Test Manager to demanding deadlines. The post will assist in improving the quality of systems delivered by IT by assisting the Test Manager with testing of new systems and changes to existing systems
- The purpose of the role is to assist the Test Manager by performing administrative and functional tasks within the test process
- Coordinate test activities between multiple delivery teams, arranging meetings, maintaining and following up action lists, raising defect reports on behalf of other teams where appropriate
- Coordinate small department projects by keeping plans up to date, reporting to project management office, and liaising with other delivery teams to execute tasks
- Complete Test documents including but not limited to test requirements, test entry and exit criteria, test scripts and test reports
- Monitor and track progress of defects ensuring these are kept up to date in regards to schedules and status
- Working with the Test Manager to prepare documentation for Project Gateways
- Assist Test Manager with system testing activities
- Maintain professional relationships with users and peers to facilitate a productive dialogue relative to the Test Processes
- Create and maintain documentation including keeping track of issues for future analysis
- Update the eRecord regression testing suite as optimisations are tested
- Perform other duties and undertake special projects as requested by line management

- Educated to at least HND level in an IT related subject or significant experience in an IT Test role
- Possess technical certification or qualifications
