If you are looking for the next step in your general management career and are an aspiring Divisional General Manager this post within the Surgery Division could be the perfect role for you. This is an opportunity to take on this post for 1 year, as part of the maternity leave arrangements for the current post-holder. The role offers the potential to both deputise across a varied operational agenda, from elective, cancer and emergency care, and the opportunity to lead on programs of work focusing on service transformation and strategic priorities. The role will transition into the new Care Group structure from April 2025, with core responsibilities remaining unchanged.

Main duties of the job
The Deputy General Manager will have operational and strategic responsibilities within the Divisions under the direction of the Divisional General Manager, working across the varying teams with a focus on driving improvement related to operational and financial performance as well as quality and safety.
Working very closely with the Divisional General Manager, the Deputy will lead on key operational and strategic aspects of the Division allowing both close working with individual Directorates and specialties where needed, and also the opportunity to lead work which is cross cutting across multiple divisional areas.
You will play a key part working with the Divisional Leadership Team to ensure you have adequate oversight of the entire Division while allowing in-depth focus and leadership in key areas. The role will support an individual looking to develop their knowledge and experience allowing some flexibility in portfolio in agreement with the Divisional General Manager.
