An exciting opportunity to join the Oxleas Adult Autism Service as we seek to appoint a Highly Specialist Psychologist to be part of our multidisciplinary team working with Autistic adults without a Learning Disability.

The Autism service covers two streams of intervention and support (see below). The main responsibilities of this role will be with the APP however occasional responsibilities with the diagnostic service may also be required.

Main duties of the job

- Autism Partnership Programme (APP)

(This is a programme aimed at avoiding and/or expediting admission of Autistic people in acute care settings)

Main responsibilities will be to formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients admitted in acute care settings with a confirmed diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and comorbid psychiatric disorders.

To support the service consultant and MDT Lead in the leadership and expansion of the Psychology provision within the Autism Partnership Programme.

This will include offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to psychologist and non- psychologist colleagues, other professional carer and community stakeholders.

- Adults Diagnostic Assessment Pathway

The emphasis of this part of the role will be to complete highly specialist diagnostic assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder across the whole trust (covering Bromley, Bexley & Greenwich) for adults without learning disabilities. Involvement with the diagnostic side of the service will be only occasional and as needed by the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

• HCPC registered
• Clin Psych training or relevant counselling Psychology qualification at specialist level

Desirable

• Additional studies & qualifications in ASD

Experience

Essential

• Robust experience working with Autistic adults with psychiatric disorders in impatient and community settings
• Experience in completing diagnostic assessments for autistic Adults without LD

Desirable

• Experience working therapeutically (individually, group and families) with autistic adults

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of presentation, barriers, difficulties experienced by Autistic people with associated mental health conditions in transitioning from impatient services to the community
