We are looking for an enthusiastic assistant psychologist to join the clinical team at the Chalfont St Peter site, dedicated to the care of people with epilepsy. Working under the supervision of the Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology you will be responsible for administering, scoring and applying the results of neuropsychological tests to help improve the function of adults referred to our centre.

We are a very research-active department, and are dedicated to evidence based practice. You will also be given the opportunity to conduct your own clinically relevant research within 12 months of joining us.

Main duties of the job

1. Administer, score and interpret a wide range of psychometric measures, tailored to the clinical referral.2. Interpret the findings of the assessment and provide appropriate feedback to the clinical team, patient and their relatives where required.3. With supervision, design and implement clinical interventions (group and individual) based on the results of the assessment.4. With supervision, evaluate these interventions.5. Maintain accurate and up to date records of clinical activity, including database maintenance.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualification

Essential

  • Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society.


Desirable

  • A 1st Class honours degree in Psychology or A 2nd class honours degree in Psychology and a good Masters Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Neuroscience, Neuropsychology).
  • Post-graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, neuropsycholog


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant clinical work in a health/social care setting.


Desirable

  • Experience of clinically relevant research or audit.
  • Experience of psychometric assessment and familiarity with the WAIS-IV, Q-Interactive and the BMPIB


Skills and abilities

Essential

  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel and SPSS (or equivalent)
