Deliver patient centred care to Ophthalmic patients in the Outpatients Department
Assess, plan and implement patient care seeking guidance when appropriate and utilising OPD systems.
Provide effective health education to patients and relatives.
Achieve the highest possible standard of care delivery in accordance with the Trusts Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery.
Promotes best clinical and professional practice.
Promotes the health and well- being of patients
Maintains effective communication with people about routine and daily activities.
Delivers evidence-based nursing care.

Provide an environment conducive to learning by continually developing own and others ophthalmic skills.
Main duties of the job
This role involves a range of responsibilities across clinical, operational, communication, and leadership areas, specifically in ophthalmic nursing. Key duties include assessing, planning, and evaluating nursing care, interpreting patient data, and responding to changes in patient conditions. The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise care, and the capacity to work independently and under pressure.
Clinical responsibilities include performing specialised ophthalmic assessments, administering treatments, managing emergency situations, and maintaining infection control. The nurse will also be responsible for patient education, ensuring patients and carers understand care plans.
Operationally, the nurse will manage time, assist with patient admissions and discharges, and ensure the smooth functioning of the department. This includes managing stock and resources, participating in safety protocols, and handling incidents.
The position requires a commitment to learning and development, with an emphasis on attending training and engaging in team-building initiatives.
