We are looking for experienced A& E nurses to enhance our team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners within the minor injuries / GP unit. To support and maintain professionalism, undertake patient assessments and commence inital treatments as required. Our department is a busy and vibrant unit with caring and compassionate staff, who strive every day to give the best and most effective care within the NHS.

As a band 6 you will have oversight and monitor patient flow through the unit, undertake direct patient treatments, plastering suturing, wound care and support the team to maintain high standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the Emergency Nurse Practitioner team in driving quality care provision forward

Be responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the wider team

Provide clear clinical oversight of the unit, ensuring safe and effective patient journeys.

Promote and support flow within the emergency floor, supporting the units current Standard Operating Policy and escalating concerns promptly.

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience
  • Demonstrable skills in written communication
  • Keen interest in minor injuries demonstrated through work history and supporting information


Desirable

  • Experience in mentoring, assessing, coaching
  • Experience in wound closure
  • Experience in plaster application
  • Involvement with departmental patient safety incidents, including de-escalating concerns via PALS


Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing qualification / NMC PIN


Desirable

  • Evidence of ongoing development and education related to specialty
