Band 6 TB Specialist Nurse: expected salary (£40.448 -47,965)
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated nurse to join the TB team based at Whipps Cross hospital. We are looking for a person who is willing to be flexible in their approach to patients, has a problem-solving attitude and has excellent communication, verbal, and written skills, putting care and compassion at the heart of the care they provide. Screening and prevention of TB are key elements of the role, and you will be expected to be flexible and work autonomously in the clinical and community setting with support from the existing team.
The post holder will also be expected to provide:
Case Management to patients (adults and children) with suspected, active, or latent TB.
Undertake nurse led clinics with a focus on managing TB contact clinic
Assessing patients in their own homes, and where necessary providing Directly Observed therapy, phlebotomy, contact screening
Collaborative working with relevant services including UKHSA, hospital discharge teams, drug and alcohol services.
Barts Health has TB services based at three sites and sees some of the highest numbers of TB cases in the UK. Although based at Whipps Cross there will be expectation and opportunity of cross site collaboration and working.
Main duties of the job
As part of Barts Health the post holder will be based at Whipps Cross Hospital.
The post holder will work as part of the Barts Health TB nursing service to deliver patient centred nursing care for patients being treated for TB and latent TB (LTBI) and provide a flexible and responsive high quality TB service, ensuring effective patient management and protection of public health.
The post holder will facilitate individualised care to patients (adults and children), their contacts and the wider community in collaboration with the multi-professional team and with other agencies, in accordance with national guidelines and locally agreed protocols.
