We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Specialist Psychologist with CAMHS and liaison experience to come and work in the socially and culturally diverse borough of City and Hackney.
We welcome applications from newly qualified or soon to be qualified psychologists.
This post is part of a comprehensive Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, within the East London NHS Foundation Trust and as part of the wider Hackney CAMHS Alliance. This post will include the provision of specialist CAMHS advice/consultation and mental health assessment, family interventions and liaison with other agencies, and the possibility to supervise other clinicians.
We welcome applicants who enjoy working effectively as part of a team, have competencies in working with families from diverse cultures and ethnicities, and have a commitment to delivering high quality, evidence based practice. Applicants who have experience and appreciation of some of the richness and complexities of working inter-culturally are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
This post will provide a specialist psychology service within City and Hackney CAMHS to young people and their families/carers and their network. This is a community-based post, located within the Emotional and Behavioural Pathway (E& B) in City & Hackney CAMHS offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments, including group-work.
The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team and will work collaboratively with CAMHS colleagues to develop and improve the work of the service. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
The post holder will play a direct role in Quality Improvement (QI) and audit projects as necessary. As a specialist psychologist, the post holder will potentially clinically supervise the work of assistant psychologists, trainees, and qualified junior CAMHS staff. It is possible that this role might contain up to a day a week working within the Wellbeing and Mental Health in Schools (WAMHS) service in the future.
About us
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
Job description
Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of a stimulating and supportive multidisciplinary Emotional and Behavioural team (E& B). This role will likely involve developing group work to support the E& B waiting list and possibly working in a school. There is a strong commitment to clinical supervision and professional development within CAMHS and the wider NHS Foundation Trust including many learning and teaching opportunities.
The role will be varied and will include managing a caseload within a stimulating and supportive multi-disciplinary E& B Team in order to provide brief treatment for often co-occurring emotional and behavioural difficulties. The team values consultation and liaison with professional networks and formulation within a systemic and community context. The role will include regular contribution to the established Duty Rota.
City and Hackney Specialist CAMHS is a large and vibrant specialist child and adolescent mental health service with a reputation for innovation and flexibility in meeting the complex mental health support needs of City and Hackney's children, young people and families.
