The MFT Histopathology service is seeking to appoint a Specialist Doctor in renal histopathology to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Oxford Road Campus (ORC). This is a full time (10 PA) post.
There may be an opportunity if desired to contribute to other areas in cellular pathology according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department
You will join a team of 22 other full and part-time Consultants and Speciality/Specialist Doctors in the Adult Histopathology Department at ORC who provide a reporting service for a variety of specialities, including Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Dermatopathology, Haematolymphoid, Head and Neck, Ophthalmic, and Urology.
The responsibilities of this post include the provision of native and transplant renal pathology reports and attendance at the weekly multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) meeting.
Main duties of the job
Participation in the Adult Histopathology service, with specific contribution to the renal pathology service, including the provision of native and transplant renal pathology reports.
Commitment to clinico-pathological and MDT meetings relevant to areas of chosen specialty.
Clinical and educational supervision of junior medical staff and Advanced Biomedical Scientist Practitioners in Histopathology as a shared responsibility with colleagues. The appointee will be required to devote time to these activities on a regular basis.
Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R& D Framework.
To participate in audit programmes and external quality assessment (EQA). The post holder will be a member of the appropriate Histopathology EQA scheme(s).
To maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with professional requirements.
Full commitment to the quality of service via the Quality Management System and conformity with the UKAS standards (ISO 15189) is the responsibility of all staff. All members of staff will be expected to take an active part in accreditation according to ISO 15189 standards.
