We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate Speech & Language Therapist with an interest in complex communication approaches, AAC, paediatric dysphagia or ASD. Ideally you will already have some experience in this area, or a willingness to learn.
You will hold a caseload of children with complex needs, aged 0-5 years, in the community and you may see them across a range of settings, including community clinics, schools and homes.
You may also work with the 0-19 years age range for specific health issues i.e. AAC and dysphagia
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral member of the SLT team and work closely with parents, early years centres/nurseries, school staff and other staff to support children's access to the curriculum, implement local clinical pathways in social communication, AAC and dysphagia.
You will run appropriate in service training (specialist training as requested) independently and provide some day to day supervision and peer review support to junior colleagues and students, including second opinions when necessary to support and develop the wider team's clinical competencies in your specialist area. The role will be supported by the Band 7 team leader and the Band 7 Paediatric SLT dysphagia trained therapist. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to develop and implement a specialist skill set in the community.
You will liaise with other colleagues across a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies and will be able to carry out formal and informal paediatric dysphagia and/or AAC and/or complex communication assessments to meet the health needs of children and young people.
