We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated physiotherapist to join a busy and well respected Integrated Learning Disability Service, which covers the Lancashire and Cumbria locality.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a specific clinical lead role in relation to physiotherapy assessment and intervention for adults, including supporting people with postural care needs. They will contribute to the broader aims of the service through joint working, consultation, training, supervision and service development/research.

Service transformation has allowed the development of this post in order to meet the needs of the service. Consequently, you will be joining the service at an exciting time and helping to influence change going forward. You will benefit from an enthusiastic, hard-working and supportive peer group and will be part of a community of professionals within the Trust and Network.

The post-holder will receive regular supervision and professional support from a senior physiotherapist, and a wider network of AHP leads within the both the service and the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy input to the designated therapy team. To assess and treat patients within a ward or community setting as an autonomous practitioner Physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. Hold responsibility for own complex caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. The post holder will ensure their own personal development and participate in the development of others. To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the degree standard Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager for service improvement

Qualifications

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of CPD in relevant areas


Knowledge

  • Experience and ability to work effectively within an MDT.
  • Evidence of clinical topic training / staff presentations.
  • Evidence of supervision of assistant staff / students.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of lone working risks.


Experience

Essential

  • Skills for assessing, diagnosing and treating a range of conditions.
  • Ability to prioritise a workload effectively.
  • Ability to make clinical decisions, demonstrating good leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and apply to practice.

  • Awareness, understanding and competency to operate machinery and equipment according to local operating procedures and Medical Device regulations.
  • Ability to work flexibly and travel across the Trust footprint to meet business needs.
  • Must be assessed as having level of fitness to carry out duties/tasks after reasonable adjustments under DDA 1995 have been made.
  • The requirement to rotate into clinical areas as service needs demand.
