Hi I'm Cheryl Ali, Clinical Service Manager for Inpatient Units In Herts and I am looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse to join my senior leadership team. As the modern matron, you will support me provide leadership, deliver on and monitor standards and support and drive innovations for the two rehabiliatation units at Langely House in Watford.
This Modern Matron posts supports both Midway (28 bedded general rehab unit) and Holywell (20 bedded stroke and neurological rehab unit), and the postholder will work very closely with the Head of Service, Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Lead Therapists and Ward Managers to develop the services, looking at new ways of working and implementing change to further enhance staff, patient and family experience.
Main duties of the job
The Matron will play a key role as part of the Management and Leadership of Bedded Rehab Services, in conjunction with the Clinical Lead Therapists, Clinical Service Manager and the Head of Service in delivering on and monitoring standards, ensuring the delivery of quality care.
The post-holder will be accountable for the provision of effective professional nursing leadership and pro-active nursing resource management for the Units. As an experienced practitioner, the post-holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development, ensuring that the delivery of care is regularly reviewed and that service developments are implemented when necessary.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Matron's Charter and hence will promote best practice in the prevention of infection, through ensuring a clean and safe environment and that clinical practices are in accordance with Trust policy, and best practice guidelines to minimise the risk of infection.
Responsibilities will also include contributing to the delivery of the Key Performance Indicators and all key strategic activities and developments. This will be supported by high quality communications with all groups of staff. The Nursing Ward Manager, who will report directly and be managed by the Matron.

- First Level Registered Nurse currently registered with NMC
- Educated to masters degree or equivalent combination of post graduate diploma, short courses and experience
- First level degree or equivalent.
- Evidence of further relevant courses.
