We have a fantastic opportunity here in Tameside for a full time Service Manager to work within our Older People's community services.

This a newly created service manager post, we are excited to offer this development opportunity to someone who is keen to lead on transformation and service development for the older persons community services here in Tameside.

We are seeking a dynamic, solution focused, strategic thinker to join our senior leadership team. We are a supportive, patient focused team with a strong emphasis on staff well being.

We are looking for a leader who is compassionate, fair and consistent in their approach to continue with the progression community older people's services has made in recent years. This role requires the post holder to have excellent communication and engagement skills and who can negotiate effectively.

Strong evidence of leading change and staff engagement is required.

Experience in older people's mental health services is essential with experience in community services advantageous. An understanding of the current challenges experienced within older people's mental health services is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide the operational coordination and management for Older Peoples Community Mental Health Services. This will involve working closely with the Associate Director for Mental Health, the integrated Local Care Organisation, commissioners and other stakeholders.

The post holder will be responsible for leading transformation and service development across the Community Mental Health team and Living well system.

The post holder will develop a culture based on the Trusts values, which is centered on the achieving the best outcomes for service users, is flexible and responds positively to change, where staff feel valued and services are coordinated to improve the experience of the patient and enable staff to work to their full potential.

The post holder will be part of the Bronze On Call Manager Rota.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for: Older Peoples Community Mental health and Structured Clinical Management Pathway ( SCM ) , Single point of entry, Memory assessment service and day hospital. Be responsible for the leadership and management of allocated teams within a defined model and actively manage the pathway between services ensuring service users receive timely access to services appropriate to their needs. Represent mental health services for older people at key strategic development forums as requested and deputize for the Associate Director where required Contribute to the assessment and analysis of needs of older people with mental health. Develop working relationships with other stakeholders to contribute to the integration of older peoples mental health services in accordance with the locality plan and local andnational agendas Ensure robust arrangements of user and carer representatives to further develop older peoples services through working groups. Ensure active representation of older peoples issues at key borough meetings bothinternal and external To act as a source of clinical advice and expertise in relation to the care of Older People with mental health problems internally and externally Produce and implement annual business plans to meet the requirements of the Trust and service strategy. With the Associate Director, agree and implement a quality and performance assessment framework for operational services. Manage service budgets responsibly to ensure cost effective services, in agreement with the Associate Director in accordance with the Trust Standing Financial Instructionsproblems within the Borough

Person Specification

Education/qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification in Health or Social Care
  • Recorded licence to practice
  • Evidence of continued professional development to postgraduate diploma level


Desirable

  • Have completed or be willing to pursue formal management training / leadership training


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience in a senior clinical leadership or management role in Mental Health Services
  • Experience of managing multi-professional integrated teams
  • Experience of managing change/complex projects
  • Experience of planning, delivering and developing services
  • Experience of representing the Borough / Trust view at strategic forums


Knowledge

Essential

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the National and devolution plans for Older Peoples Mental Health
  • Extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
  • Knowledge of the Care Act and commissioning processes
  • Knowledge of locality plans, and integrated working agenda
  • Knowledge of Trust Quality and Governance agendas and the ability to apply these to practice
  • Safeguarding Procedures for Adults and Children
