The Royal Marsden Hospital is Europe's largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. The Nuclear Medicine PET/CT and Radioisotope Therapy is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our team on the Sutton site. The successful candidate will help to support the department as a whole and ensure that the service is patient-focused and provides high quality care. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to professional development, an enthusiasm for their work and show a keen interest in the future of both their profession and the Diagnostic Imaging Service. Nuclear Medicine qualification and experience is essential. The candidate will be expected to support both the service and its staff in continuing to maintain and develop the highest standards of imaging. Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be responsible for the timely, efficient and courteous provision of Nuclear Medicine and PET services.
  • The post-holder will liaise with a variety of staff throughout the Trust, including wards and theatres and with those from other NHS trusts. The key working relationships in the department will be with the imaging, medical, clerical and nursing staff.
  • The post holder will have considerable patient contact, including contact with the terminally ill. Patient presentation will include the unconscious, incapacitated, confused and those with physical and mental disabilities.

To ensure correct identification of patients To ensure the timely, efficient and courteous provision of imaging services within the available resources. This will involve booking of patient appointments, explanation of procedures, cannulation and injecting of patients, administration of oral, intravenous and inhaled radiopharmaceuticals, as well as operation of the gamma cameras and PET/CT scanner. To provide both qualitative and quantitative results to agreed standards. To ensure that all data analysis, hard copy production and archiving is performed in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. To comply with written systems of work. To ensure statutory and Trust standards for record keeping are adhered to. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors within the department. To adhere to the local rules relating to radiation protection. To ensure that statutory Departmental and Trust requirements for record keeping are met.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree (or post graduate qualification) in Nuclear Medicine
  • Evidence of clinical experience
  • Evidence of professional development


Desirable

  • Appropriate state registration
  • Further Education


Experience

Essential

  • Post graduate experience in Nuclear medicine
  • Previous PET/CT experience


Skills Abilities/knowledge
