Blandford Community Mental Health team seeks a Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitioneror a Band 5 looking to gain training, experience, and support, to then move into a Band 6 post on completion. This post offers a great opportunity for newly qualified practitioners or those working in an inpatient setting looking for a change.As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide care delivery which considers people's safety, privacy, and dignity. You will provide interventions, assessments, and treatments, manage patients on a caseload and plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.

You will work within a supportive established integrated multi-disciplinary team. This team is made up of a Psychiatrist, Nurse prescriber, Mental Health Practitioner, Social Workers, OTs, Support Time Recovery Workers and Psychologists.

The Community Mental Health Practitioner role is full-time Monday to Friday and based in Blandford and covers the surrounding villages. You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to assess and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported in your clinical work, and professional development, by an experienced Mental Health Nurse, with ongoing close and supportive supervision from the Team Leader together with an agreed programme of training and development.

Having experience working in a community mental health environment would be useful, but not essential, you will need to be able to apply the philosophies of engagement and recovery within your work with service users.If undertaking this post as development, please read both job descriptions attached for more information on the role requirements.

Knowledge, skills and training

Essential

  • RMN, OT or Social worker
  • Current professional registration
  • Experience of working in Community


Desirable

  • Further evidence of professional development and training.
  • Phlebotomy trained


Job specific experience

Essential

  • Experience of ICPA and Risk Assessment and Management.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programmes.
  • Understanding of safeguarding processes.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Working knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience of using electronic patient records systems
  • Evidence of using basic IT packages

Essential

  • Physical Health - knowledge and link with MH
