This role will involving working as part of the multidisciplinary team either within the Pain Service or as a hybrid first contact physiotherapist.

You will be expected to demonstrate that you have undertaken development across the 4 pillars of advanced practice including relevant experience and education to underpin Level 7 capability in the Clinical Pillar. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience of which 3 are within MSK to meet the requirements of the FCP Roadmap. Previous NHS experience is also essential and experience across different healthcare sectors will be an advantage. These criteria will be used as part of the shortlisting process.

Our service priorities include research and education and we are proud of our close links with local Universities including Birmingham and Keele. We support post-graduate ACP apprentices and MACP placements in partnership with the University of Birmingham. Staff development is a priority with 3.5 hours ring-fenced weekly for supervision, mandatory training and self-directed learning activity. We hope to offer choice and flexibility to our complex local population, support the NHS Green Agenda and reduce barriers to help our patients access high quality care.

Main duties of the job

You will work as a lead clinician planning, delivering, evaluating and developing musculoskeletal (MSK) care with a focus on managing patients with persistent MSK pain as part of the Pain Service MDT or within an FCP role alongside colleagues from the SWB MSK Service.

You will help to create and promote a culture of learning, acting as a mentor and playing an active role in the supervision, assessment and education of peers, MDT colleagues, support workers and students.

You will undertake continuous personal professional development across the 4 pillars of practice - clinical, leadership/management, education, and service evaluation/research demonstrating Level 7 in the clinical pillar and working towards Level 7 in the other pillars.

You will identify opportunities to promote fitness and wellbeing among patients, Trust employees and the general public, making every contact count, providing added value, promoting function and reducing musculoskeletal sickness absence.

You will undertakeevidence based audit and research activity to further develop MSK practice, making and acting upon recommendations for changes in practice to improve service delivery and outcomes

You will liaise with the Consultant Physiotherapists, ACP Lead and Operational Leads to streamlined patient-centered MSK Care across the integrated NHS Trust and local community

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

    • Experience of working in a variety of clinical environments demonstrating adaptability, flexibility and willingness to continually develop
    • Specialist post-graduate musculoskeletal experience working at Band 6 or above in a range of musculoskeletal sub-speciality areas managing complex patients
    • Must be 5 years post Qualification of which 3 years is within MSK setting


    Desirable

    • Experience of working in different environmental settings eg acute and community clinics with diverse populations and non-NHS services
    • Formal lecturing experience
    • Involvement in marketing, education, health promotion and/or wellbeing activity
    • Policy or protocol development, dissemination and evaluation
    • Involvement in audit
    • Education and mentoring of peers, junior staff, multidisciplinary team members and/or physiotherapy students.


    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Professional qualification in physiotherapy HCPC registered
    • Evidence of validated or recognised post-graduation training in musculoskeletal practice supported by a portfolio to illustrate professional development towards or at Level 7 in the Clinical pillar of practice


    Desirable

    • Member of CSP and other relevant interest group
    • M -level education in relevant musculoskeletal & advancing practice
    • Centre of Advancing Practice FCP accreditation
