We have two exciting opportunities for aspiring and motivated Occupational Therapists to join our Band 5 Community Rotation within North Herts ICT and DH2A East (covering ULV, LLV, H& E area).
You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and knowledge within a wide range of specialist teams, including our Community Integrated Services, Discharge Home to Assess, Early Support Discharge Team, Inpatient Rehab and Neurological Units (Herts and Essex Hospital, Danesbury) and Children and Young Persons Services.
You will have an opportunity to network within our highly skilled and experienced pool of Occupational Therapists at HCT, and will be supported along your career with training and regular supervision to ensure your practices are relevant and reflected of up to date practices.

Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will:
Be part of a skill mixed team delivering high quality Occupational Therapy Assessment and Interventions
Work in partnership with GPs, Adult Social Care, Continuing Health Care and local equipment and wheelchair providers
Be offered a wide range of training opportunities including, preceptorship, functional assessment and moving and handling training
Will have access to regular clinical supervision sessions to support your practice
Will have experience in using electronic records and be able to be a mobile worker
Have a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To provide assessment and treatment packages of high-quality healthcare for patients rehabilitation needs in a variety of settings. These will include bed bases, patients homes, and community settings
- To hold responsibility for your own case load, working without direct supervision.
- To actively participate in regular formal and informal supervision and training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflective practice with a senior Occupational Therapist.
- Represent the occupational therapy service and/or individual patients at the multidisciplinary team meetings. To ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service and integrateoccupational therapy intervention into a patients multidisciplinary treatmentprogramme. This will include discussion of individualised patient care and treatment packages, patient progress, and involvement in discharge planning.
- To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment used within the role including manual handling equipment, ADL equipment, and other patientappliances and aids. Check all equipment prior to use and report any faults to the relevant authority.
- To be responsible for organising and planning your own caseload to meet serviceand patient priorities.
- To be adaptable and re-adjust plans as situations change/ arise.
- To undertake, as directed, the collection of data for use in service audit and researchprojects.
- To participate in research into specific areas of clinical practice and service delivery using a range of research methodologies as part of MDT audit and departmental research initiatives
- To assist in the clinical supervision and education of rehabilitation assistants/therapy assistant practitioners.
- To assist in the clinical supervision of Occupational Therapy students on placementas required.
- To liaise with consultants, patients, family, carers, multidisciplinary team, allied health professionals, nurses, Adult Care Services, voluntary sector, enablement carers, GPs, acute hospital teams, Community Health Services, Continuing Care Panel, sports and leisure, Hertfordshire Equipment Service , educational settings,SEND, and others as applicable

- Occupational Therapy degree
- Experience as a band 5/student in acute or in-patient adult rehabilitation, elderly care, and neurology

- Ability to carry out patient manual handling tasks.
- Ability to carry equipment such as wheelchair and commodes in and out of stores/ car and patient`s homes.

- Hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

- Knowledge and/or experience of using a range of therapeutic occupational therapy interventions for the treatment of patients with a range of conditions.
